Adapted from index.htm www.defence.gov.au Australian soldiers in the reconstruction of the Labor Force (RTF) in Afghanistan were involved in a series of attacks with Taliban extremists in late August. No Australian soldiers were wounded in one of these incidents, but the Taliban was known to have suffered losses. The soldiers protect the site against RTF patrols in the area and maintain a constant presence. Australia has established a Task Force for Reconstruction (RTF), consisting of aarms team, in Uruzgan province in southern Afghanistan, under Operation Slipper. The RTF is in partnership with the Dutch Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) and forms part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force. The RTF has a clearly defined role to work on reconstruction, improvement of infrastructure in the province and municipal projects. The RTF also provides trade training to local people and training of military engineers in AfghanistanThe National Army. This type of aid is for the people of Uruzgan province and in the future and form the building blocks of the provision of stable and prosperous community.
